variable refrigerant flow systems (VRF)

Hamilton industries specializes in the installation, maintenance and repair of Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems in homes, residential structures, commercial businesses and workplaces throughout Metro Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam, North and West Vancouver, Richmond and Langley.

Our team of HVAC engineers and dedicated VRF service technicians not only provide the most reliable and efficient installation services but can also help you make a decision on which VRF systems will be the best option for your particular application and budget constraints. We are more than happy to answer all of your VRF system questions over the phone, by email or by scheduled appointment.

Why Choose a VRF System?

Variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems utilize the most up-to-date technology to create a complete heating, cooling and ventilation system that maximizes energy efficiency and minimizes maintenance costs. VRF systems also give unprecedented user control over the entire system and analytics tools for tracking your own energy usage levels. The user controls are displayed on a touchscreen wall mounted panel and work kind of like an advanced thermostat. They are easy to read and control.

The key to VRF efficiency lays in its ability to set-up and control individual zones within the system. This allows you to turn off or reduce the energy for areas that are not in use.

The entire system can share a single condensing unit, while each zone has its own dedicated fan coil unit.

How Does a Variable Refrigerant Flow HVAC System Work?

Variable refrigerant flow systems make use of modern inverters, efficient fan motors, simplified wiring, new materials for improved heat transfer, DC fan motors, new fans with advanced blade design for quiet operation and energy efficiency and computer controlled pre-set programs and cycles with better user controls.

VRF indoor units

A wide variety of indoor units are available to suit every kind of interior design and construction requirement. Every indoor unit comes with several new features that make the VRF systems the best on the market.

  • Auto restart – For easy startups after power failures.
  • Auto addressing – Heat pump and mini-VRF systems auto assign indoor units upon start up and can be easily controlled with a wireless device.
  • Dry mode – Better humidity control
  • Washable filters – Easy to maintain, cheaper and reduces waste.
  • Washable panel – Easy to clean
  • Pre-heat function – Efficient air circulation
  • Remote on/off – Easy on and off controls provides convenience and energy savings
  • Error Alerts – System alerts when maintenance is needed

Mode Selection Boxes

The mode selection box is the key to the heat recovery system. By a process of either routing liquid or discharge gas to each indoor unit, the mode selection box allows for the independent heating and cooling in each zone of the HVAC system. A single mode selection unit can be used to control up to 24 individual indoor units.

Commercial and Industrial VRF Units

Today’s VRF units are powerful and perfect for commercial and industrial uses. A single outdoor compressor unit can connect with up to 1000 meters of piping. This can accommodate almost any size of structure in a highly cost effective manner.

Because fewer components are need the VRF HVAC systems are the easiest to maintain and have fewer service issues.
