Turn off the ice machine
If your business is seasonal and you need to shut off an ice machine during the winter, you should read the article below. It will show you how to turn off/ turn on the unit properly.
Firstly, you should define the maker of the ice machine. There are many manufacturers such as Manitowoc, Scotsman, Hoshizaki, and other brands. Reading the service manual instruction to get a general idea about turning off the machine properly is highly recommended.
Each maker will have a different instruction to turn off its ice machine. However, the simplest way to turn off most of them is by unplugging.
If you cannot unplug the unit, you will need to find the location of a breaker and switch it from the “On” position to the “Off” position.
If you have tried both methods above and still can’t turn off the ice machine, you will need to open the front panel. If it is a Manitowoc machine, you will see a display panel with the power button. You can press and hold the button until the unit totally off.
For the Hoshizaki machine, there is a flip switch located on a control box. You can move the switch from the “on” position to the “off” position.
Turn the machine back on
When the off-season ends, your business will need to be back to normal. You will need to turn on the ice machine. It is simple as when you turn it off. You can plug the units back to the outlet or turn the breaker back on.
If both ways are not working, you will need to open the panel again.
For the Manitowoc machine, you will need and press the power button until the unit is on. For the Hoshizaki, you can move the switch from the “Off” position to the “On” position.
